Geoje City says the island village, harbor and coastal road near the Gajo branch office were used as the fictional island 'Pyeondong-do'.

GETTING THERE KTX from Seoul Station takes about 2 hr 20 min–3 hr 30 min depending on the train. From Busan or Seoul, check Korail or intercity bus schedules, or search the route on Naver Map (English UI). ACCESS A fishing-village island linked to Geoje by the Gajo Bridge, so you can drive across; the city calls it one of Geoje's best sunset spots. Places fans list here include Changchon Port, the Siljeon breakwater, the Gullyeongpo village area and stretches of Gajo-ro. People live and work here: keep noise down, and stay out of private land, fishing gear and work areas.

About this page

Doctor on the Edge (닥터 섬보이) is an ENA Monday–Tuesday drama that aired from June 1 to Jul 7, 2026, based on the webtoon Hold On, Doctor (존버닥터). Lee Jae-wook plays Do Ji-ui, a public health doctor with a fear of the sea, posted to the fictional island of Pyeondong-do, and Shin Ye-eun plays the nurse Yuk Ha-ri. It streams on Disney+.

Gajodo is reported: Geoje City named it as the filming island. The other places are fan-spotted: Korean fan researchers matched them to scenes, and we say only that they appear in the drama.

The real ‘Pyeondong-do’: Gajodo Island, Geoje

Gajodo sits off Sadeung-myeon on Geoje’s west side and is joined to it by the Gajo Bridge, so it is an easy drive from the main island. Geoje City says the drama used the village, harbor and coastal road near the Gajo branch office, and it recommends the island for sunsets. It is a working fishing village: visit quietly, park only where it is clearly allowed, and keep away from nets, boats and private yards.

Getting there

Geoje is closer to Busan than to Seoul. Check intercity bus schedules from Busan, or search the route on Naver Map (English UI); from Seoul, check Korail and connecting buses. Geoje City notes Gajodo is linked to the main island by the Gajo Bridge, so you can drive or take a taxi across.
