About this page

This guide covers the Love in the Moonlight places outside Suwon. Hwaseong Haenggung, the Crown Prince’s palace in Suwon, is in the Love in the Moonlight Suwon guide, and every place is on the Love in the Moonlight filming locations page.

The places sit in five different areas. Jeonju has two of them close together in the Hanok Village area, so it makes the easiest single trip.

Getting there

These are separate trips from Seoul or Busan. Check trains on Korail to Jeonju, Namwon, Hadong or Gapyeong, and plan the last leg with Kakao Map or Naver Map. For Buyeo, use the map apps to find the current route.

Good to know: Temple etiquette (사찰 예절)

Historical dramas often film at Korea’s temples and Confucian sites. If your travels take you to an active temple, here’s how to visit respectfully.

Korean Buddhist temples are active places of worship, not just photo backdrops — the same halls where monks chant at dawn are the ones you’ll walk through. A few rules keep your visit respectful. Always enter the main hall (Daeungjeon) through a side door, never the center door facing the Buddha statue; the center is reserved for monks. Remove your shoes before stepping inside, place them facing outward, and step over the raised wooden threshold rather than on it. Keep your voice low, and if someone is meditating or chanting, pass behind them rather than in front. Photography inside halls is often restricted — ask staff first. Don’t point at Buddha statues with your index finger; use an open hand instead. Alcohol, meat, and smoking are strictly prohibited on temple grounds. Dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees), and greet monks with palms pressed together and a slight bow (hapjang). Many temples offer templestay programs where you can experience dawn chanting, tea with a monk, and the famous 108 prostrations.

FAQ

Which places are easiest to add to one trip?
Jeonju: Gyeonggijeon Shrine's bamboo grove and Jeonju Hyanggyo are both in the Hanok Village area. The other places sit in five different areas, so plan them as separate trips.
Which stops are confirmed, and which are only reported?
Gyeonggijeon, Jeonju Hyanggyo and the House of Choi Champan are confirmed by VisitKorea plus Korea.net or Pressian. Gwanghalluwon, Seohwayeon Pond and Gudeurae Sculpture Park are reported by one source each so far.
Is the House of Choi Champan a real historic house?
No. It is a hanok complex built as a drama set and open to visitors; check its official page for hours and admission.
Why isn't the final-scene location listed?
Korea.net names Buyeo as the area for the final scenes but no specific place, so it is not listed as a stop. Gudeurae Sculpture Park in Buyeo is a separate reported stop.
Will this page use drama stills?
No. The only drama footage is KBS's official episode upload, embedded from YouTube.
