About this page

Extraordinary Attorney Woo (이상한 변호사 우영우) aired on ENA from June to August 2022. Park Eun-bin plays Woo Young-woo, a rookie attorney with autism at a big Seoul law firm, and Kang Tae-oh plays Lee Jun-ho, a colleague at the firm. It streams on Netflix.

The Changwon tree and Suwon’s Haengnidan-gil are confirmed by two or more independent press reports. Muuido and the Jeju temple are reported by one press source each.

The ‘Sodeok-dong’ tree, Changwon

In the drama, the village of Sodeok-dong fights a road project to save its old hackberry tree. The real tree stands in Dongbu Village, Bukbu-ri, in Changwon’s Daesan-myeon. After the drama aired, the Cultural Heritage Administration named it a natural monument in October 2022, according to press reports. It is a quiet farming village: visit in daylight, keep to public paths and stay behind any barriers around the tree. Changwon is an easy day trip from Busan.

Suwon, Muuido and Jeju

Press reports place the kimbap restaurant of Young-woo’s father at a Japanese restaurant near Haengnidan-gil, the café street beside Suwon’s Hwaseong Fortress. Our Lovely Runner guide covers the same street. The “sunset village” date spot was filmed at the Silmi resort area on Muuido, west of Incheon Airport, and Gwaneumsa, a temple on the slopes of Hallasan, is named as a Jeju filming location.
