About this page
The Beauty Inside is JTBC’s 2018 drama about Se-gye and Do-jae. It shares its title — and its starting idea — with a 2015 film, and that shared title is the reason so many location lists for the two get tangled together. This guide untangles them: it covers the drama only, it lists only the places that pass the site’s source bar, and it holds everything else in the left-out list with the reason stated.
That bar leaves a short guide. One place is named by Korea’s official tourism guide, and one by a Korean fan post. Nothing else found in this pass — not the famous Bupyeong cafe, not the Seoul stonewall walkway, not the other Gyeongju sights in the same tourism article — belongs to this drama on qualifying evidence. A short honest guide is worth more than a long borrowed one, and both stops below are real, visitable places whether or not you care about the drama.
Gyeongju: palace pond
Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond is the guide’s anchor and its only reported stop. VisitKorea’s Gyeongju Hallyu guide names it as the place Se-gye headed to after her argument with Do-jae — that is the whole of the scene detail the source gives, and this guide does not dress it up further. No episode number is stated, because the source gives none.
The place itself needs no drama to justify a visit. It is a Silla-era palace pond in central Gyeongju, once called Anapji, and it is best known for its night view: the restored pavilions lit over the water. Come in the evening if you can, and pair it with the rest of Gyeongju’s old center rather than treating it as a single-photo stop. Check the site’s official listing before you go; this guide states no hours or admission figures.
Incheon: Songdo park
Songdo Central Park is the guide’s second stop and its weaker one, and it is labeled as such. A Korean fan post about a visit to the park notes crowds near the Tribowl sculpture and a street-stall set across the bridge that the blogger writes “seems to have been” installed for filming. That tentativeness is the evidence, and this guide repeats it rather than firming it up: no filmed moment is claimed, and the set itself is not something to go and see.
The park is still worth the trip on its own terms. It is a large waterside park in Songdo with a water-taxi loop, reeds and sculpture, and it is easy to reach on Incheon Subway Line 1. Treat the drama link as a maybe, and the park as the reason to go.
Getting there
The two stops do not pair into one day. Gyeongju is a full day trip from Seoul: KTX serves Gyeongju, and the pond is in the city center — check times and fares on Korail at https://www.letskorail.com/ebizcom/cs/guide/guide/guide11.do and search the route on Naver Map before you go. Songdo is a separate, much shorter trip: Incheon Subway Line 1 serves Central Park and Incheon National University stations, and the park is right by the station. For both stops, recheck each place’s official listing before you set off.
Visiting notes
Do not let the shared title mislead you. The Bupyeong cafe that dominates search results for this title belongs to the 2015 film, and several Seoul and Gyeongju places that listicles attach to the drama either belong to other dramas or rest on no qualifying source at all. The left-out list below names them so you can see what was considered and why it was held back.
What remains is small but solid: a palace pond that the official tourism guide ties to the drama’s two leads, and a Songdo park where a fan saw a set going up. If a press piece or a second fan post ties another place to this drama, it can join them. Until then, this guide stays at two stops rather than borrowing a longer list.
How we checked
Each stop was checked against the site’s bar: confirmed needs two independent official or press sources, and anything weaker is reported or fan-spotted with its source named. Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond has one official source naming the drama, so it is reported; the fan blog that also names it is corroboration, not a second qualifying source. Songdo Central Park has one Korean fan post with tentative wording, so it is fan-spotted with that tentativeness stated. A second qualifying source was sought for Donggung on Nov 3, 2026 in Korean and English and not found. Episode numbers, hours, prices and booking details are stated nowhere in this guide, because no qualifying source in this pass gave them.
